Quality award for fast-growing specialist

TST, the South Wales-based industry leader for rail industry telecommunications and safety services, has secured a top quality award.

One of the UK’s fastest growing companies since being established in 2001, it has been awarded ISO 9001: 2000, which is the current internationally-accepted quality management certification system.

TST provides retail and business telecommunications, signalling installation and projects, welding and grinding, electrical and mechanical engineering, civil engineering, facilities management and safety critical training.

TST Chairman and CEO, Kevin Schofield said, “This accreditation is extremely important for TST because it underlines our ability to match exacting industry standards.

 “It helps move TST forward within the railway industry as a serious railway engineering company with a forward looking vision of the future.”

TST has now started the next phase within the company to achieve ISO 14001 for Environmental Management by the end of 2007.

TST, based in Cardiff, forecasts that its annual turnover will increase from more than £2m for 2005/06 to more than £17m per annum by 2010.

A recent job creation and expansion has been underpinned by a significant Welsh Assembly Regional Selective Assistance grant to underpin the company’s growth and acquisition strategy;

It will lead to the creation of more than 90 jobs during the next three years, increasing the size of the workforce from 17 to more than 110.

Founding directors of TST have amassed more than over 100 years’ knowledge of the railway environment. The company is responsible for telecommunications, electrical installation and facilities management as well as safety-critical infrastructure systems throughout the UK.
