Cardiff Bay - station refurbishment

In addition to winning a major CCTV installation contract from Arriva Trains, involving 77 stations
across Wales, at the same time TST carried out a high-profile refurbishment project at Cardiff Bay.

As a result of our work the station has benefited from a longer platform, upgraded CCTV, new customer information displays and improvements to lighting, fencing and building structures.

TST managed the whole project, which was completed to budget in readiness for the opening of the Wales Millennium Centre. The work included:

		refurbishment of the station platform to allow for longer trains
		building of a new cantilever canopy shelter on the platform
		installation of electrical wiring and new lighting on platform and shelter
		enhancement of the CCTV system to cover new structures and access points
		commission of detailed site surveys and designs prior to the building work
		provision of new fencing and cosmetic enhancements, eg. shrub planting
		installation and commissioning of new Customer Information System

TST’s long experience of operating in a controlled railway environment meant that work continued even during peak times without affecting passenger access or safety.
